Another classic Ford Escort has been lifted from under their owner’s nose. This time, from a classic car dealership in Ripley, Surrey. Hot on the heels of this week’s Classic Car Crimewatch, a highly valuable MK1 Escort Mexico has hit the headlines as the next victim.
Stolen from Trackspeed in Ripley on Tuesday 3rd March at 21.20, the dealership was ram-raided by three thieves in a stolen blue Series 1 Land Rover. The crooks then proceeded to chain the Escort to the rear of the Land Rover, before dragging it from the dealership and out into the night.

Police confirmed that the Land Rover was later discovered burnt to a cinder nearby in West Horsley. A value of £120,000 has been predicted for this particular Mexico, from 1972.
Registered with the plate; “DAD422K”, this Escort is rather unique. Under the bonnet is a TVR 5-litre V8, with a very high attention to detail in terms of overall modification. Finished in Volkswagen Jazz Blue, with a Mexico stripe and a large number 27 on the side, this will be easily identifiable.
