C+C: My Golf diesel

This week’s Cheap and Cheerful features a 1996 Volkswagen Golf. Not just any 1996 Volkswagen Golf, my one. Unfortunately the time has come for me to change my trusty old Volkswagen, forcing me to offer it to the Time Warp Tuesday readers.

The engine is a 1.9-litre non-turbo diesel and has covered 151,000 miles over its lifetime. The Golf comes with a full service history and tons of receipts. There are rust holes on the front arches and a broken front wiper, however this German hatchback comes with many new parts which will help it run for years longer – most importantly the cambelt was changed last year.

MK3 Golfs are rapidly disappearing at the moment, especially those with this diesel engine. In years to come, they should experience a resurgence along the lines of the MK2, which has recently become highly sought after. At a price of just £500 with a valid MOT until September 2015, this will certainly make a bargain for someone out there.

Please, treat her well!
